ISO 9001:2015 certification is a big deal. So, does it really matter when selecting a vendor?

ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management system (QMS), and ISO 9001:2015 is the current version of ISO 9001. In order to be a be certified to ISO 9001:2015, a company:

  • needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements; and
  • strives to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

The standard is set by ISO (International Organization for Standardization), however, they do not perform the certification. You can find an accredited certification body at the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).
